Liverpool look poised to bolster their forward line this week with the arrival of Federico Chiesa.

The Reds already had one of the most fearsome attacks in Europe, but Arne Slot has seen fit to strengthen it further still.

The Italian’s signing is yet to be confirmed by Liverpool, but with reports that Chiesa is having his medical on Thursday, it is surely only a matter of time.

As a result of the 26-year-old’s impending arrival, there has been some speculation that one of the current Liverpool forward options could leave Anfield before Friday’s deadline.

And it now looks as though that will come to fruition, with plenty of offers already on the table.

Ben Doak given green light to leave Liverpool

One of the most intriguing aspects of Liverpool’s move to sign Chiesa is that the Italy international is a very versatile forward.

On any given day he could play in place of Luis Diaz on the left, Mohamed Salah on the right or Diogo Jota through the middle.

As a result, it does feel a little like his addition makes six top quality, and mainly versatile, forwards too many for one first-team squad.

Inevitably, rumours have emerged that Darwin Nunez could be the man chopped by Slot. However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that Nunez is going nowhere.

Instead, Liverpool actually look set to keep all five of Diaz, Salah, Jota, Nunez and Gakpo along with Chiesa and will let Ben Doak leave on loan.

That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, who reports that Liverpool have given the ‘green light’ to a loan move for Doak and already have a staggering seven offers on the table.

“Liverpool have received seven loan offers for forward Ben Doak,” says Joseph. “It’s understood the interested clubs are from the Premier League and Championship.

“Liverpool have given the green light for Doak to leave on loan and are weighing up the best option for his development.”

Where should Ben Doak go?

It will be fascinating to see where Liverpool decide is the best place for Doak to go and develop.

Wherever it is, it needs to be a club where the 18-year-old can get regular game time. That is an absolute necessity.

After bursting onto the scene two seasons ago, Doak’s progress has stalled following a series of injuries. The Scotland youngster now needs to get back on the pitch as often as possible.

There have been reports previously that Southampton and Leicester hold interest in Doak. However, we think a Championship loan may be the better course of action.

Playing Premier League football would of course be a bonus for the teenager at this stage, but a higher-level team reduces the chances of Doak playing week in, week out. Updates won’t be far away.
