Liverpool supporters have been getting used to seeing Arne Slot as their head coach.

There has been a big adjustment period for the Reds, with Slot filling the enormous boots left by Jurgen Klopp.

The Dutchman has got off to a great start, overseeing an excellent pre-season and winning his opening Premier League game with Liverpool.

This weekend represents another significant moment for Slot as the new head coach takes charge of a competitive match at Anfield for the first time.

But while the 45-year-old settles more and more into life at Liverpool, it’s still great to hear from Jurgen. And Klopp has been speaking out at length for the first time in a little while on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp raves about Trent Alexander-Arnold

During his almost nine years at Liverpool, we obviously heard Klopp rave about many different members of his first-team squad.

The German was not afraid to be effusive about his players, especially those who shared much of his journey as Liverpool manager.

One of those was Trent Alexander-Arnold. After bursting through from the academy in 2017, the Scouser soon became a key man for Klopp.

From then on, Alexander-Arnold developed into one of the best right-backs in the world and an absolute figurehead of Klopp’s Liverpool.

Klopp has raved about Alexander-Arnold many, many times over the years. But asked about the 25-year-old by ESPN, Jurgen took the opportunity to do it again.

“His right foot is ridiculous, it’s ridiculous,” says the 56-year-old.

“I enjoy highlight videos, sometimes more, sometimes less, but Trent Alexander-Arnold highlight video is insane because you don’t need the goals, just the passes.

“You just watch the passes and think ‘how is that possible?!’ I could pass the ball but not like that!”

What’s the latest on Trent’s contract situation?

No one at Liverpool needs telling just how good Alexander-Arnold is. That only makes his current contract situation all the more baffling.

Reds supporters have been growing more and more nervous that this could be the right-back’s final season at his boyhood club before leaving on a free next summer.

As things stand, that’s exactly the scenario that is set to play out over the next nine months.

It has been claimed that insiders within the football industry have been shocked that Liverpool have allowed Trent’s contract to wind down, along with Mohamed Salah’s and Virgil van Dijk’s.

For now, it’s very much the case that no news is bad news where all of these three are concerned. In Trent’s case, let’s hope those highlight reels don’t stop in 2025.
