Liverpool have the chance to make it two wins from two games in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Reds started the season well last weekend at Ipswich, beating the Tractor Boys comfortably on their own patch.
They are back at Anfield this time, as Arne Slot takes in his first ever competitive home game in charge of Liverpool.
A win would represent Liverpool’s best start to season for three years and would be the ideal way for Slot to announce himself to the Premier League.
Following that, though, the Reds have a big test indeed. Away at Man United, one of the real red letter days of Liverpool’s season. After what happened at Old Trafford last time, Slot’s team have a point to prove.

Cody Gakpo reveals Man United regret
For Slot, he is no doubt relishing the chance to get one over on Liverpool’s biggest rivals so early into the season.
The tie is even spicier for the fact that United’s manager – Erik ten Hag – is also a Dutchman and was previously in charge of Feyenoord’s rivals, Ajax.
For the Liverpool squad, though, they should need no extra incentive to beat the Red Devils. They played United three times last season and didn’t win a single one.
Having exited the FA Cup to United in dramatic fashion in March, Liverpool have a score to settle a week on Sunday.

And looking ahead to that game already with Viaplay, Reds forward Cody Gakpo has admitted that the thought of all three games against United last season – and in particular the two at Old Trafford – still upsets him.
“Those are the matches that we really fell behind the rest,” says Gakpo. “Those were the decisive games for us and also for the feeling. That still gnaws.
“Even more than the 7-0 was fantastic and historic and nice that I was able to be a part of that with the goals, football continues and the last two games there were not our best games,” he adds.
“So, that still gnaws at me.”
Cody Gakpo set for new role under Arne Slot
It will be fascinating to see how Liverpool get on against United in nine days time. The Reds did beat their arch rivals in pre-season this summer, but that will count for little.
With Slot new at the helm, he’s going to have to rely on his players to step up at Old Trafford.
For Gakpo, it remains to be seen what kind of impact he’ll be allowed to make. The 25-year-old was only given 11 minutes during the opening day win over Ipswich.
Slot has told Gakpo he’ll be a left-winger this season, but with Luis Diaz playing the full 90 at Portman Road – and largely playing well – he seems likely to go once more against Brentford.
From there, you would expect that Slot will keep a similar team for the United clash. But whatever time Cody gets on the pitch in Manchester, it sounds like he’s keen to make the most of it. Watch out, United!
