Liverpool are in serious danger of going through the full summer transfer window without making a single signing.
The Reds’ last addition came almost a full year ago, with Ryan Gravenberch joining on last year’s transfer deadline day – September the 1st 2023.
Since then, Liverpool have been linked with a massive number of players, but are yet to pull the trigger on any at all.
Fans will still be hoping for that to change before a week on Friday, as Arne Slot looks to navigate his first season at Anfield with the strongest possible group.
First-team additions would be preferable, with a couple of areas of the Liverpool squad in need of bolstering. However, it now looks possible that the Reds could make a signing with one eye on the future.

Liverpool monitoring Matias Fernandez-Pardo
At this stage, Liverpool’s most likely new addition is still Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Liverpool have proposed a swap deal for Mamardashvili, and although that has been rejected by the Spanish club, a transfer could still be arranged.
That move would very much be with an eye on the future at Anfield, with the 23-year-old slated to head out on-loan before becoming Liverpool’s No.1 in the coming years.
And according to journalist Chris Wheatley, the Reds are also looking at a deal which could future-proof their attacking options.

Slot currently has an exciting array of attackers to choose from, as Saturday’s win over Ipswich Town showed.
But, taking to X on Monday evening, Wheatley says that they could potentially add 19-year-old Gent forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo to that before next week’s deadline.
“Liverpool, Leicester, and Southampton are monitoring highly-rated 19-year-old Gent forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo,” says the reporter.
“Represented solely by his father, the youngster could be set for a summer exit ahead of the 30 August deadline.”
Who is Matias Fernandez-Pardo?
Right now, Liverpool supporters are unlikely to get majorly excited over a player who could only be an option some years down the line.
In a window that has seen no action at all, they would much prefer Richard Hughes and co to bring in a player who could jump in and improve Slot’s squad immediately.
Nevertheless, Fernandez-Pardo does look like a real talent. A central striker, the teenager has bagged 10 goals in 27 games for the Gent first-team.
Six feet tall, quick and an able finisher, Fernandez-Pardo also has three goals in 10 appearances for the Belgian U19 side.
It remains to be seen what kind of transfer fee the youngster could pull in for Gent. But he is certainly one to keep an eye on for the future.
