Arne Slot has impressed in his first few months as Liverpool manager, yet transfers have been hard to get through the door as well as out of Anfield.

The Reds remain the only Premier League to not have spent a single penny on new signings, with Fabio Carvalho the only player to leave Liverpool this summer for an actual transfer fee after his permanent move to Brentford.

With Liverpool failing to sign Martin Zubimendi, time is running out for the Merseyside giants to get new players in with the transfer window closing in 11 days, with fans fully aware that Slot needs to be making signings this summer.

Yet the Dutch coach has now been tipped to sell a Liverpool first-teamer.

Slot might want Joe Gomez out of Liverpool this summer

Speaking on TalkSport, pundit Tony Cascarino suggested that Slot is keen to sell Joe Gomez this summer, with the defender not in Liverpool’s squad to face Ipswich Town due to transfer-related factors.

With Liverpool failing to sell Gomez to Newcastle United for £45m already this summer, it’s easy to think why the Reds are again looking to offload the defender, who seemingly won’t be a regular for Slot this season.

Cascarino said: “It’s a tough one for Joe Gomez. He left Charlton at 17 to go to Liverpool, and he has had some really great times. He was in the England team as a centre-half and did brilliantly, but he has found himself now that a manager has gone: ‘Do you know what?’

“I have been there myself when a manager comes up and says: ‘Look, I have decided I am changing here and, you know, you can move on if you can find a club.’ That’s what I am sure probably what has happened to Joe Gomez.”

Anfield exit might be the best for Gomez this summer

Despite making over 50 appearances in all competitions last season for Liverpool, all signs this summer seem to point towards Gomez leaving Anfield once and for all, yet such a deal could be the best for everyone.

The 27-year-old defender showed last season that he can perform at the highest-level in both the Premier League and in Europe, with Gomez also showing his versatility in a big way for the Reds.

And if Liverpool can make a good fee for the defender in the final two weeks of the summer transfer window, the Reds will jump at the chance to sell Gomez, especially if it means a new signing can be made.
