Trent Alexander-Arnold returned to action for Liverpool against Ipswich Town, with the defender impressing after a tough summer.
The fullback was dropped from England’s starting XI during Euro 2024 having failed to impress in a midfield role, with Alexander-Arnold also linked to Real Madrid in what was a turbulent off-season for Liverpool supporters.
However, the 25-year-old returned to Premier League action with a perfect response, with Alan Shearer praising Alexander-Arnold for his performance against Ipswich as Liverpool secured a 2-0 win against the Tractor Boys.
And Gary Lineker has now issued a question about Alexander-Arnold after his display.

Lineker tells England to find a place for Alexander-Arnold
Speaking on the Rest is Football, the Match of the Day pundit made the claim as to why England are yet to find a definitive place in the squad for Alexander-Arnold, who showed for Liverpool why he is as special a talent as he is.
Alexander-Arnold pre-assisted Diogo Jota’s opener with a sensational pass to Mohamed Salah, with the defender setting himself up for what could be another incredible season in the Premier League for Liverpool.

And for Lineker, the question is now out there as to why England can’t find a concrete place for Alexander-Arnold, who showed at Portman Road that he has everything in his locked to perform for his country.
Lineker said on Alexander-Arnold’s performance: “I have to say, I still love watching Trent Alexander-Arnold play. He is a joy to have. How can there not be a place in the national side? Maybe there will be in the future. He is so good.”

Alexander-Arnold needs to translate Liverpool form to England
This summer at Euro 2024 was a difficult one for Alexander-Arnold, who went from a great hope for England to a bench player within the span of just a few games.
Yet with Gareth Southgate gone and Lee Carsley in charge for now, there’s a real chance that Alexander-Arnold could finally translate his form with Liverpool onto the international stage with England.
The September international break will be a good indicator as to what direction Carsley wants to take Alexander-Arnold, and given the Irish coach’s record with England’s U-21s, the Liverpool star could be unleashed once and for all.
