Liverpool’s pre-season is done and dusted, with Jarell Quansah playing a big role in Arne Slot’s summer preparations.

The England international has featured heavily in the Reds friendlies this summer, with Quansah now a leading candidate to start in Liverpool’s defence on the opening day of the new Premier League season against Ipswich Town.

With Gary McAllister impressed with what Quansah has done this summer, the 21-year-old defender has shown everything he can to ensure that he will play a part in Slot’s first-team plans for the upcoming campaign.

Yet Quansah himself has been left impressed by another Liverpool youngster this summer.

Quansah in awe of Liverpool wonderkid Trey Nyoni this summer

Speaking to Liverpool’s official podcast, the defender hailed Trey Nyoni and the steps the teenage midfielder has taken this summer in breaking into Slot’s first-team plans for the new season.

Nyoni scored his first goal for Liverpool in their 4-1 win against Sevilla, with the former Leicester City wonderkid showing this summer that he could be a breakout star for the Reds if given the chance.

And Quansah has been left impressed with what he’s seen from Nyoni this pre-season, who heading into the new season could be a secret weapon of sorts for Liverpool if Slot opts to fully promote the youngster into the senior squad.

Quansah said on Nyoni’s pre-season form: “I think he’s stepped up this pre-season and showed a lot of quality. I think because some of the players have been returning from international duty he’s been able to step up and really, really show his confidence, and you saw that today in the finish, it was unbelievable.”

At 17-years-old, Nyoni feels like a Liverpool star in the making, with the midfielder shining in pre-season and getting supporters excited about what’s to come from this special talent in the new campaign.

And there’s a real chance that Nyoni could be just that for the Reds if Slot is confident in giving the England youth international a chance with the senior team.

Indeed, Nyoni has shown this summer that he has the world at his feet and he go far with Liverpool if he can maintain his current development, and the new season could bring numerous first-team chances for the midfielder if he keeps on pushing.
