Liverpool have just under three weeks left to complete their summer business, and it’s expected to be a hectic end to the window.
Martin Zubimendi is close to joining Liverpool from Real Sociedad with Giorgi Mamardashvili also a target for Arne Slot, with the Reds also working on offloading the likes of Fabio Carvalho to Brentford.
With the Premier League season starting next weekend, Liverpool have certainly left it late in the market to finally get going in the transfer window, where a number of signings might be needed for the new season.
And Robbie Fowler has now made three suggestions for what the Reds need from sporting director Richard Hughes.

Liverpool told to add defensive and midfield reinforcements
Speaking to the Mirror [11/08, pg 75], the Liverpool legend made the logical suggestion that a defensive midfielder needs to be brought in this summer, as well as a left-back and a centre-back.
With Zubimendi on the verge of joining and more moves expected in the coming weeks, there’s a real chance that Fowler’s wish will come true this summer, and Hughes will have heard the former striker’s wishes.
Fowler said when writing about Liverpool’s business this summer: “Liverpool supporters are a little concerned with the lack of activity in the transfer market, and I understand where they are coming from.
“I would like to see new sporting director Richard Hughes add a holding midfielder, a centre-back and a left-back to the squad before the window closes. There is still plenty of time to do some business but, ideally, you want to give news signings a few weeks to settle in.”

Three signings this summer could make Liverpool title contenders
Zubimendi’s arrival on Merseyside seems to be quickly becoming a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ the transfer happens, with the midfielder expected to take control of the holding midfield position for the new season.
Yet another two signings, particularly one at centre-back, could be what tips Liverpool into the category of Premier League title contenders for the new league season.
Indeed, another quality left-back would also greatly improve Liverpool’s squad, and with just under three weeks to go until the window closes, the Reds need to be working around the clock to bring in the players needed to challenge for the title.
