Liverpool are having to move quickly to tie up some interesting looking deals towards the end of the transfer window.
The Reds remained inactive for the first two months of the summer, preferring to let Arne Slot assess the team he has inherited.
But with the new head coach having had plenty of time to work with the Liverpool squad, Slot has now given the green light to move ahead with signings.
Liverpool are trying to get Martin Zubimendi and it still looks very possible that the Euro 2024 winner will be rocking up at Anfield very soon.
And now, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are also weighing up whether or not to make a concrete move to sign another player who shone at this summer’s tournament.

Liverpool in touch over Giorgi Mamardashvili deal
Assuming Liverpool can get Zubimendi over the line, that deal would plug perhaps the biggest hole in the current squad.
But there would still be a number of things that the Reds should probably aim to do before the August the 30th deadline.
One issue that could still become a live one for Slot is what will happen in terms of his goalkeeping department. Caoimhin Kelleher could still leave Liverpool despite a quiet window so far.
And according to Romano, the Reds have now been given the chance to future-proof whatever happens in between their sticks by signing Valencia goalie Giorgi Mamardashvili.

“I can confirm the story that Liverpool have the possibility to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili and send him on loan,” the journalist reported on his Playback channel. “Liverpool have been presented this possibility.
“Mamardashvili is looking for opportunities in case there will be some in the final weeks of the market and Liverpool have the opportunity to go for him, sign him now and loan him out. Bournemouth and several clubs are exploring the possibility for Mamardashvili on loan,” Romano adds.
“But Liverpool are yet to make a final decision on this one. They are aware of the opportunity, they spoke to people in charge of the deal, they are informed on every detail, now it’s on Liverpool.
“They have to decide internally if the want to pay something around 30 million Euros [£26m] sign Mamardashvili, loan him out and consider him the potential future goalkeeper after Alisson, or if they want to leave this opportunity and continue with the goalkeepers they have. It’s on the table and it’s on Liverpool to decide.”
Giorgi Mamardashvili keen on Liverpool arrangement
This is a really interesting story and key to it could be – as Romano confirms – that Mamardashvili is said to be happy to play his part in it.
“An important detail to say is that Mamardashvili would also be keen on this possibility,” he continues.
“He is open to saying ‘Okay, I’m going to Liverpool, I’m not going immediately because Alisson is the goalkeeper but maybe in the future I will be Liverpool goalkeeper.’
“So, ready to going on loan but still being a Liverpool player. Mamardashvili is open to that, it now depends on Liverpool.”
In our opinion, we really don’t see the need for the Georgia international if Kelleher stays. Should he leave, the prospect becomes more appealing but still does not seem like something Liverpool actively need. The money can surely be better spent elsewhere.
