Liverpool are excited at the prospect of seeing 18-year-old midfielder Stefan Bajcetic return to fitness.

Bajcetic was a breakout star for Liverpool last season, excelling in 19 appearances before getting injured. Having been on the treatment table since March, a few may have forgotten the young Spaniard’s qualities.

According to The Daily Mail though, those inside Anfield certainly haven’t. They claim that despite the Reds signing Alexis Mac Allister and being on the verge of bringing in Dominik Szoboszlai, Bajcetic’s return is ‘eagerly anticipated.’

There’s even said to be a ‘feeling within the club’ that the former Celta Vigo man is ‘special.’

Elsewhere, it’s reported that Liverpool will soon confirm the capture of Szoboslai, who is expected to go straight into the starting XI.

Both the Hungarian and Mac Allister are claimed to be on contracts that ‘won’t disrupt the wage structure’ at Anfield.

‘Special’ Bajcetic backed to impress

With Szoboszlai soon to be confirmed as a Liverpool player, excitement has gripped Reds supporters this weekend.

Only last week, some were getting frustrated with their club for dragging their heels in the transfer market. The arrival of Mac Allister was very welcome indeed, but it wasn’t enough.

Then, out of nowhere, a second fantastic signing looks set to be completed. Impressive stuff.

But although both players are significant upgrades for Liverpool, they shouldn’t forget what they already have at the club.

Yes, the midfield clearly needed some work doing to it. There remains a couple of players who supporters may wish to see moved on if given the choice.

Bajcetic is certainly not one of those, however. The teenager showed enough promise last season that at one stage he was the first name on the team sheet in midfield. For an 18-year-old in a struggling team, that really is special.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Jurgen Klopp should gamble on giving Bajcetic an even bigger role next season. And thankfully, he isn’t. Instead, the new signings should allow Stefan to step back a little and develop at his own pace. He’ll still play plenty you’d have thought, but he’ll now have so much more help.
