There are plenty of reasons for Liverpool fans to be excited about the new season ahead.
The Reds are going into their first campaign without Jurgen Klopp for nine years, which may cause for anxiety in some.
But while it will undoubtedly be strange at Anfield without Klopp, Arne Slot looks like the kind of coach who could be a real success with Liverpool.
Slot has already impressed Mikel Arteta after beating his Arsenal side 2-1 in Philadelphia and the Dutchman seems driven, focused and meticulous.
With Liverpool players praising Slot’s training methods, too, it seems that the Reds’ rivals may have cause to be concerned ahead of the new campaign.

Rival coach makes Arne Slot point
Klopp leaving Liverpool was always going to be a fresh start for the Reds. But with most of the German’s coaching staff leaving as well, it really was a bit scorched earth at the AXA Training Centre.
While the likes of Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz were celebrated figures in Klopp’s reign, though, Slot has slowly built his own team.
The 45-year-old has surrounded himself with interesting coaches, with Liverpool set to add a specialist in set-pieces as well.
But while people like Fabian Otte and Ruben Peeters come with reputations as disrupters and innovators, Slot himself is no slouch either.

The former Feyenoord boss has looked very hands on in training and The Independent report that Liverpool’s players have started to ‘talk amongst themselves’ about the differences from the old regime.
It’s claimed that Slot’s sessions are seen as being ‘much more technical’ than those under Klopp, which were largely taken by Lijnders.
The Dutch coach is said to be more focused on the ‘theory’ of the football he wants to play, whatever that may mean.
Either way, Slot’s methods are winning admirers beyond Liverpool. The boss was reportedly called “maybe the best in the world on the training ground right now,” by a ‘prominent figure from a rival club.’
Liverpool to reap benefits of technical training
If there was one criticism of Liverpool’s football under Klopp, it was that it was almost a little too gung-ho at times.
The former manager put a lot of emphasis on players – especially midfielders – who were physically strong and quick rather than especially technically gifted.
Nevertheless, with the signings that Klopp made last summer in particular, Liverpool do have plenty of players who would probably benefit from a more nuanced style.
Dominik Szoboszlai, for example, is one who could be reborn under Slot. Gifted though he is physically, the Hungarian couldn’t have played as a defensive midfielder with Klopp. In the new system, Szoboszlai could comfortably be a deeper lying player.
There are many more examples besides, too. And if Slot can live up to his ‘best in the world’ tag, then we’ll surely see them come to fruition as his time at Liverpool wears on.
