Liverpool are slowly building towards the new season after a summer of real change.
The Reds had become used to having Jurgen Klopp in charge over almost a decade but have now had to deal with a passing of the torch.
It isn’t just Klopp who has left Liverpool, though. The German was followed out of Anfield by seven members of his backroom staff.
With a new sporting director installed in Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards also back at the club in a new role for FSG, it feels very much like a slate that has been wiped completely clean.
Bit by bit, Liverpool have begun the process of reinventing themselves. And it looks like another piece is set to be added to a puzzle that’s slowly being solved.

Liverpool set to add new specialist coach
Some big personalities went out of the door for Liverpool last season. The AXA Training Centre must have been feeling a little strange to some of the Reds players before leaving for the USA.
Without the booming Klopp and the ever-lively Pep Lijnders, things are no longer as they were. Perhaps they never will be again.
In their place have come some very capable coaches with some interesting new ideas, though. New goalkeeping coach Fabian Otte’s idea of training his ‘keepers with goggles, for example.
With all of the key positions at the club now filled, Liverpool look well placed to put Slot’s ideas fully into place on the pitch.

Fascinatingly, though, the Liverpool ECHO report that the new head coach is also close to adding a member of staff that Klopp did not bother with.
Jurgen was famously interested in doing whatever he could to give Liverpool a ‘marginal gain’ over whatever opposition they faced.
However, this never translated into the Reds hiring a nominated set-piece coach.
But with teams like Arsenal having success with this approach recently, Liverpool are reportedly set to adopt it, too. The ECHO claim that a ‘set-piece specialist’ is now ‘close’ to coming aboard.
Liverpool coaches set for first test
With so many new coaches and new ideas being put to the Liverpool squad, it may be a little while before we see things pay off.
At any rate, Reds supporters are going to have to be a little patient and allow their new team to bed in.
For the moment though, the early signs are really good. Curtis Jones has raved about the tactical set-up being pushed by Slot and his coaches, while Dominik Szoboszlai has noticed the difference, too.
Obviously, we won’t necessarily see the benefits of that straight away, but Liverpool fans will be looking forward to getting a first glimpse of it – no matter how small – when the Reds take on Real Betis on Saturday morning.
Just don’t take too much notice of the set-pieces, Reds, because that might all be about to change.
