Liverpool keen on ‘world class’ £50m centre-back as they prepare to accelerate in the transfer market

Liverpool are ready to go all guns blazing in the last month of the transfer market.

The Reds have decided against bringing in any new signings during June and July and are instead ready to focus on doing business in August.

With Arne Slot brand new through the door at Anfield, it has made sense for Liverpool to stay patient and let the new boss assess his players.

Slot has been able to get a good look at the available members of the Liverpool squad whilst in the USA over the past couple of weeks.

And with the Reds set to return after playing Manchester United on Sunday, things are about to ramp up in the window. Liverpool are looking at signing as many as four new players.

Liverpool targeting Willian Pacho

The four positions Liverpool are hoping to sign someone in are said to be: centre-back, defensive midfield and potentially two new players in wide forward areas.

Anthony Gordon is one of Liverpool’s key targets but the Newcastle man aside, it is a little quiet on who else could be on Richard Hughes’ wish list.

This is strange given that the Reds arguably need a new centre-back and defensive midfielder far more than they need a new attacker.

Nevertheless, after breaking the news about Liverpool’s desired quartet, The Independent do throw out a potential name in defence.

They claim that Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho has ‘long been viewed as a potential option‘ by the Reds.

Pacho is said to be an alternative to former target Leny Yoro, who ended up joining Man United instead.

Having improved rapidly at over the last two years, Pacho would reportedly set Liverpool back £50m if they were to sign him this summer.

In terms of targets for the other positions, Gordon is named as the ‘most high-profile’ of them, but further options in defence, midfield or attack are not mentioned beyond he and Pacho.

Liverpool ready to accelerate on signings

The Independent claim that Liverpool are set to put in ‘concrete bids’ for the players of interest to them over the next 10 days.

As a result, we may soon find out just how serious their interest in Pacho really is.

In our opinion, the 22-year-old would be a smart signing for the Reds. He may have a high price-tag, but he also has a high ceiling.

Pacho has ‘world class’ potential according to Eintracht boss Dino Topmoller and that could be moulded into something special at Anfield.

If Liverpool decide his price is too high, then there are surely other options out there. But don’t rule out Pacho just yet.
