With August now in full swing, Liverpool can smell the start of the new Premier League campaign.
The Reds have been productive in the off-season so far, picking up two wins from two under new head coach Arne Slot.
However, as usual, it has not been Liverpool’s performances on the pitch which have been dominating talk amongst the fanbase.
This is transfer season and the biggest topic on supporters’ minds is how Slot is planning to strengthen the Liverpool squad he has inherited.
So far, the head coach and his recruitment team have decided to sit back and wait. But with the season almost upon us, that looks like being about to change.

James Pearce makes transfer admission
Liverpool are the only Premier League side yet to make an addition this summer.
Given that the season has been finished for pushing three months now, it isn’t a surprise that all of their domestic rivals have dipped a toe or two into the market.
For some, it also won’t be a surprise that there has been no activity at Anfield. With a new head coach, coaching staff, sporting director and CEO of football, things needed time to settle.
Now that the settling is done, though, Liverpool do need to make their move. There are areas of the squad that could do with refreshing slightly.

And according to journalist James Pearce, the Reds are all set to bring some fresh faces in.
Speaking on the The Athletic’s Walk On podcast, Pearce declared that transfers ‘definitely will happen’ before the window shuts.
“There’s a lot of noise around the fact that we’re now in August and Liverpool haven’t made a signing,” says the reporter. “That in itself is remarkable in the context of usually a new manager comes in and wants to freshen things up and put his own stamp on it.
“That hasn’t happened yet, although it definitely will happen, I’ve got no doubt about that in the coming weeks.”
Who will Liverpool sign?
Pearce is not the first journalist to take this position. Mark McAdam of Sky Sports also proclaimed that it is a guarantee that Liverpool will make signings before the transfer deadline.
Part of the intrigue – and the excitement – surrounding these goings on, is that it’s very, very difficult to say exactly who those new players will be.
Anthony Gordon continues to be linked with Liverpool and at the moment that certainly appears to be the most likely deal to happen.
But given that Gordon has a hefty price-tag and his arrival may be linked to Luis Diaz leaving, which does not look especially close, even that feels like a long-shot.
Other than Gordon, we are at a bit of a loss. It feels like a centre-back and a defensive midfielder could happen, but if Liverpool are moving quietly behind the scenes then they’re doing a great job of keeping things under wraps.
