But he should turn out to be a top player for Erik ten Hag’s side, with his signature meaning Liverpool must turn elsewhere to strengthen their defence.

It seems that a repeat situation could be on the cards in midfield, with Adrien Rabiot set to sign for Manchester United over Liverpool.

And remarkably the Premier League duo could now go head to head for another midfielder, with both clubs chasing Joey Veerman, according to CaughtOffside.

The publication reported that the Reds have their eye on the PSV ace, who Man United will move for if they miss out on Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.

Veerman enjoyed a strong season for PSV last time out, with the midfielder making 41 appearances in all competitions.

Shining in central and defensive midfield, the 25-year-old was then selected to represent the Netherlands at Euro 2024.

He played in all six of his nation’s matches as they reached the semi-finals of the major tournament in Germany.

Veerman’s displays there, and indeed in the Eredivisie and Champions League last season, have now seemingly attracted the attention of two Premier League giants.

A move to England could now be on the cards, with Veerman potentially set to choose between compatriots Arne Slot and Ten Hag this summer.
