Liverpool told they’re being linked with a signing which could hurt Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool have been surprisingly told that one superstar player linked with a move to Anfield could now actually be a bad thing for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The England international is set to take on a key role in this new era of the Reds under Arne Slot, with Alexander-Arnold last year made vice-captain of Liverpool, as the fullback once again impressed in the right-back position.

With a move to central midfield once again being discussed, the upcoming season could be the one that fully determines if Alexander-Arnold will make this positional move at last, with the 25-year-old failing to impress for England in the role at Euro 2024.

Yet Liverpool could make a signing that might impact Alexander-Arnold negatively.

Liverpool urged against signing Joshua Kimmich to avoid Alexander-Arnold problem

Speaking on TalkSport, pundit Scott Minto suggested that Liverpool signing Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich could do more bad than good for the Reds, mainly due to how the Germany star would affect Alexander-Arnold.

Able to play both right-back and central midfield, Kimmich has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, and the 29-year-old could well play a role in how effective Alexander-Arnold would be in Slot’s system.

Minto said on Kimmich joining Liverpool this ummer: “Kimmich is a good player, a central midfielder as well as a right-back, he would definitely add to almost anybody’s team.

“But then for Liverpool, what do you do with Trent then? You have got a right-back there who could play in midfield, so it’s the same sort of principle.”

Alexander-Arnold and Kimmich would flourish together at Anfield

Concerns about Alexander-Arnold and Kimmich potentially playing together are somewhat justified given how similar both players can be if given similar roles in the same starting XI.

But with just how good the duo are, there’s an even more likely chance that Alexander-Arnold and Kimmich would flourish together at a club like Liverpool, with the pair able to rotate roles and switch things up under Slot.

Indeed, Alexander-Arnold and Kimmich could be the winning formula needed to get Liverpool back in the Premier League title race, and a move for the German should be considered this summer.
