A round-up of the latest Liverpool news as Alisson Becker reacts to a transfer offer for switch away from Anfield and the Reds scout a Euro 2024 gem whom Arne Slot loves.
Liverpool rejected Newcastle’s offer to sign Anthony Gordon for £85m
Liverpool rejected an offer from Newcastle United to sign England forward Anthony Gordon this summer. That is according to Ben Jacobs, who reports that the Toon contacted the Reds in their attempt to avoid breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSR) to discuss cashing in.
The Reds are admirers of Gordon, who was keen to agree a transfer to Anfield, but the price tag the Toon seek for their 23-year-old is too much. Liverpool felt the £85m Newcastle value Gordon at is too high, despite expecting a £100m price tag, and hope it comes down further.

A chance to sign Gordon for less will appeal to Liverpool after he made England’s Euro 2024 squad following an 11-goal, 10-assist Premier League season for Newcastle. It would also be a homecoming for the former Liverpool academy prospect who broke through with Everton.

Liverpool scout Arne Slot target Baris Alper Yilmaz at Euro 2024
Liverpool scouted Turkey forward Baris Alper Yilmaz at Euro 2024 with Arne Slot a long-term fan of the Galatasaray star. That is according to Graeme Bailey, who exclusively tells Rousing The Kop that Slot had initially kept tabs on the 24-year-old while still in charge of Feyenoord.
Slot has now brought his interest in Yilmaz to Anfield with Liverpool using Euro 2024 as their chance to run the rule over the 20-cap talent. But the Reds are far from alone with a host of rival Premier League and European squads also showing an interest in targeting his transfer.
Yilmaz started all five of Turkey’s ties in Germany this summer as the Crescent-Stars made the quarter-finals. He also featured in four fixtures as a centre-forward having emerged as a versatile star for Galatasaray with goals and assists from either wing and even as a full-back.

Alisson Becker’s agent is speaking with Al Nassr about his transfer

The agent of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is speaking with Al Nassr about a transfer to Saudi Arabia this summer. That is according to TEAMtalk, which reports that the cash-rich Pro League outfit see the Brazilian as their top target over Manchester City stopper Ederson.
Al Nassr are even prepared to pay more for Alisson than they would spend for Ederson, who Manchester City now value at £34m. But the Global One are still to convince Alisson to leave Anfield, despite presenting the 31-year-old with a ‘monster’ contract to change his position.
Alisson is reluctant to leave Liverpool and risk giving up his guaranteed place as Brazil’s No1. The 71-cap goalie is their undisputed first-choice and remains one of the best in the world in his position. Alisson’s sensational shot-stopping skills resulted in 11 clean sheets last season.
