Liverpool continue to be linked with a host of players as they finalise their transfer plans.

The Reds have so far stayed out of the market while they head into a period of change at the club.

But with Arne Slot now having had chance to evaluate some of his Liverpool squad during pre-season, the Reds may start to move in the window.

Throughout the summer so far, there have been claims that Liverpool will be looking to add a forward to their current options this summer.

And as Slot welcomes back Mohamed Salah on Wednesday, Liverpool have now been mentioned once again with a player who has lit up Euro 2024.

Liverpool told Baris Alper Yilmaz price-tag

What kind of forward Liverpool are wanting to target may depend on whether there are any outgoings for the remainder of the window.

Luis Diaz has been linked with a move away but any transfer for the Colombian does not appear to be imminent.

With all of Slot’s other forwards virtually certain to stay, the Liverpool attacking department already looks a little crowded.

Nevertheless, improvements can always be made. And as the Reds scour the Euros for potential additions, Baris Alper Yilmaz has reportedly caught their eye.

Yilmaz has played his way onto Liverpool’s shortlist following some explosive displays for Turkey. And speaking via Turkish outlet Star, the president of Yilmaz’s former side, Ankara Keciorengucu, has made a claim about a possible move to Anfield.

“We have 20 percent of Baris Alper Yilmaz’s share, but we have not received a request from Galatasaray for a meeting with us on this issue,” says Keciorengucu president Sedat Tahiroglu.

“I hear that Liverpool want him, Arsenal want him, but I know Nuri Sahin definitely wants him [at Borussia Dortmund].

“I don’t think the price of 50 million euros will come out. It could be sold for around 30 million euros [£25m]. Young people need to pave the way for Turkish football.

“I hope he will make the decision that is best for him. It’s not about the money. The important thing is that Baris Alper goes to a team where he will be successful because he will be the face of Turkey.”

Baris Alper Yilmaz could be bargain for Liverpool

If there’s one thing you can count on, then it’s that Liverpool will not sign a player solely based on the back of one good international tournament.

The Reds’ scouting and recruitment team is one of the best about. If they do want Yilmaz, then they’ll have been fully aware of him well before Euro 2024 began.

Given some of the things that have been said about Yilmaz, you can understand if that were indeed the case.

Although the forward is not yet prolific, he is incredibly fast, direct and a nightmare for defenders.

“I liken Baris Alper Yilmaz to Gareth Bale in terms of power,” his former coach Ilker Puren told GS Gazete in October 2023. “He has the ability to sprint 3-4 meters after outplaying the opponent with the ball.”

For £25m or so, Yilmaz could be a gamble well worth Liverpool taking.
