Liverpool keen on signing £25m forward who Jude Bellingham says is unbelievable one-v-one

Liverpool are beginning to firm up their intentions in the summer transfer market.

The Reds have been completely silent in the window since the end of the season. With the new campaign just over a month away, fans will hope to see some action.

The lack of movement is understandable from Liverpool, though. Arne Slot has only just started to work with his first-team squad and will be without the bulk of them for a few weeks yet.

As the new head coach weighs up what he does and does not need adding to the group, Liverpool may not progress further with any deals.

There are options out there for the Reds, though. And as pre-season preparations continue to ramp up at the AXA Training Centre, an old link has come back to light.

Liverpool interested in Karim Adeyemi move

Liverpool like doing business with the Red Bull clubs. Since 2018 Liverpool have bought four players from either RB Salzburg or Leipzig.

With Pep Lijnders now in place as new Salzburg head coach, we may start seeing further transfers between Liverpool and the energy drinks franchises soon.

Back in 2022, it looked likely that Liverpool could sign Karim Adeyemi from the Austrian side.

Having burst onto the scene as a teenager, Adeyemi had seemed like the next big thing. However, Liverpool were beaten to the German’s signature by Borussia Dortmund.

In the two years since he joined Dortmund, though, Adeyemi has not really made the Reds regret not pushing hard to get him. 14 goals in 66 appearances is a pretty poor record for the 22-year-old.

As a result, Sky Germany claim that the Champions League runners-up are open to cutting their losses and selling Adeyemi this summer.

Dortmund are said to be not necessarily active in their attempts to sell the forward, but his performances have supposedly been a little too up and down in the black and yellow.

Consequently, if a bid of around £25m came in for Adeyemi this summer, his club would reportedly be tempted to move him on.

Liverpool are claimed to be one of the sides pondering a bid for Adeyemi, along with Chelsea, Juventus and AC Milan.

Jude Bellingham hails Karim Adeyemi

Although Adeyemi’s goals record is really quite disappointing, the Germany international certainly has some quality.

Speed is clearly his main asset. Adeyemi says he is faster than Usain Bolt and that’s something the Liverpool front-line could seriously do with.

One player who has seen his pace first-hand is former Dortmund teammate Jude Bellingham.

Speaking via TalkSPORT after Adeyemi scored against Chelsea in the Champions League in 2023, Bellingham praised the youngster’s ability to beat any player one-v-one.

“We are really confident when he gets the ball one on one,” said the England man at the time. “Not many players can stop him. He had a tough time coming here at the start – finding his feet – and now he’s flying.”

That period of flying has never quite been maintained by Adeyemi, but he could still be an interesting option for Liverpool.
