Liverpool stars Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo have continued their superb Euro 2024 run with the Netherlands.

The Anfield pair both played the entire 90 minutes as the nation won their quarter-final clash with Turkey 2-1.

And attacker Gakpo was particularly critical in the final third, with the winger forcing an own goal from Mert Muldur.

His performance caught the eye of Gary Neville, with the pundit saying that the Liverpool attacker looked ‘really sharp’ on the pitch.

The Netherlands will now take on England in the semi-finals in Germany, with Spain and France competing in the other semi-final.

Gakpo may not have found the net against Turkey, but he remains the competition’s joint-top scorer with three goals.

The winger took to social media to celebrate the latest win, writing on Instagram: “Never back down. Couldn’t be more proud of the team! We’re one step closer.”

Among those commenting on the post were his Liverpool teammate Van Dijk, who sent an orange heart emoji.

It would be a superb achievement if the Netherlands were to go on and lift the Euro 2024, but it certainly won’t be an easy task.

The small matter of either Spain or France awaits in the final should they get there, with Ronald Koeman’s side needing to get past the Three Lions first.

There, Gakpo and Van Dijk could be forced to battle it out with their Liverpool teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez.

Gomez is yet to taste action at Euro 2024, with the same to be said of his fellow Reds ace Ryan Gravenberch.

But Alexander-Arnold will be full of confidence after scoring England’s winning penalty in their quarter-final win over Switzerland, with Gary Lineker blown away by the right-back.
