Liverpool will have a number of players at Euro 2024 this summer and one Reds star appears to disagree with his international coach over one issue.

The Reds supporters will be able to watch the Euros and keep an eye on a number of Liverpool stars.

The likes of Jarrell Quansah and Curtis Jones could end up representing England, while senior internationals like Dominik Szoboszlai, Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota will all be playing a part.

Of course, there are others as well hoping to make an impression.

One of those is young winger, Ben Doak. The teenager has been called up by Scotland after being injured for a few months.

But speaking about his fitness, it appears Doak and his manager Steve Clarke might be a on a different page.

Ben Doak tells Steve Clarke he’s ready to play for Scotland

Speaking to The Mirror about giving Doak a chance now Lyndon Dykes is injured, Clarke suggested things might come a bit too soon for the Liverpool youngster.

“Listen, Ben is in the squad to gain experience, to work with us. He has been out [injured] for four and a half months so let’s not put too much on Ben. He will be available [for Gibraltar], maybe some minutes off the bench,” Clarke said.

“But let’s keep Ben in the right place. Let’s not overhype or over push him. Let’s do it properly.”

However, commenting on his injury and recovery, Doak appeared to disagree with Clarke’s assessment.

“He [Clarke] spoke to me when I arrived, asked me how I was feeling. I was quick to let him know that I’m fit and ready to play. I’ve been training for two/three weeks now, I feel great,” Doak commented.

“We’re all kicking the same ball. If you’re good enough to be on the pitch, you’re got to be up to the level. I’m here to fight for a place. Where that place is I don’t know because we don’t play with wingers, but I’ll play where I’m told and do it to the best of my ability.”

Doak could be a difference-maker for Scotland

Everyone at Anfield knows that Ben Doak is a huge talent who could have a huge future in the game.

We all saw glimpses of his talent earlier in the campaign and there is little doubt in anyone’s mind he’s going to be a big player for the Reds over the years.

For Scotland, they simply have to include Doak in the final squad if he is fit.

Few players in that squad have the talent he has and in a major tournament, being able to call on a fearless young player could be a massive boost for the Scots.
