There’s one former Liverpool player who has played under both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
Arne Slot’s name emerged as a surprise candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. But it’s now looking very likely that he will be the man to come in and succeed the current Liverpool manager.
Slot is a relatively unknown manager in European football. But he will be familiar to some of the club’s players.
Cody Gakpo played against his team while was at PSV Eindhoven. Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk came up against him during his playing career back in the Eredivisie.
The pair of them are also coached by Slot’s assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, who is also the assistant manager of the Netherlands.

The one player who played under both Arne Slot and Jurgen Klopp
In terms of players who have played under both Arne Slot and Jurgen Klopp, there is only one.
Joao Carlos Teixeira is a bit of a cult figure at Liverpool. He arrived from Sporting CP as a teenager, and was still at Liverpool when Klopp joined the club.
In total, Teixeira played seven games under Klopp, mostly in the cups, and saw firsthand the changes the Liverpool manager made when he first arrived at the club.
Teixeira experienced a similar transformation at Feyenoord. He was still contracted to the club when Slot arrived and played two games under him, but spent the majority of Slot’s first campaign out injured.
The time Teixeira stunned Steven Gerrard and where is he playing now
Teixeira’s shining moment in a Liverpool shirt came against Fulham away from home in the 2013/14 season. At the time, Brendan Rodgers introduced him to the pitch Liverpool were drawing 2-2, but needed a win.
Teixeira made an immediate impact and his through-ball ultimately saw Daniel Sturridge win a crucial penalty. The penalty was converted by Steven Gerrard to record a famous win.
Later Gerrard was seen coming up to Teixeira as per First Time Finish, and describing what he did as ‘brilliant.’
Now Teixeira is playing in China, for Shanghai Shenhua where he has six goals and two assists in 10 appearances so far.
