Liverpool have had a number of success stories from the academy recently. Trent Alexander-Arnold has conquered the world from right back. Curtis Jones is establishing himself as a first team regular. Neco Williams has impressed as a deputy. Not every academy prospect works out. João Teixeira has spoken about his unsuccessful stint at Liverpool.

Remember Teixeira?
Joao Carlos Teixeira was at a time the next best thing at Liverpool.
The Portuguese star was a shining light in the academy.
He joined the youth set up from Sporting in 2012 and he was hailed as the ‘next Deco‘.
He made 20 appearances for the U21 side that year, impressing coaches and fans.
Eventually the youngster was sent out on loan to Brentford and Brighton, enjoying his time on the South Coast he was awarded Brighton’s young player of the year award.
By the time the Portuguese prospect left Anfield he’d made just two Premier League appearances.

What RTK has to say
He can’t complain can he.
The 27-year-old got to don the Red shirt and play under Jürgen Klopp, what more can you ask for? That is real tell your grandkids stuff.
Whilst he has never lived up to his enormous potential he’s still been lucky enough to have a solid career in football.
