There’s been a lot of senior Liverpool players who have gone out on international duty and excelled over the last week or so. One has gone under the radar.
A total of 21 Liverpool players were involved on international duty during the March break. That number is even more if you take into account the players who are currently on loan, and who were called into their respective national teams.
A lot of them have notably excelled. Conor Bradley took the spotlight for Northern Ireland with his winning goal against Scotland. Dominik Szoboszlai scored in both games for Hungary and retained his unbeaten run as captain.
The likes of Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Kostas Tsimikas all did well for their senior national teams and got goal contributions. Meanwhile, at youth level, Harvey Elliott took the spotlight for England’s U21 side. And Rousing the Kop saw Lewis Koumas live in action score a winning goal on his debut for Wales’ U21 team.
One player, though, has gone under the radar. And it’s probably because he is currently out on loan.

What Luke Chambers did for England U20s and how he is doing on loan
Luke Chambers has excelled during his loan spell at Wigan Athletic. He was described as ‘incredible’ by Wigan boss, Shaun Maloney, after his debut. And has since gone onto win the Wigan Player of the Month for February.
Given those impressive performances, it’s no surprise that Chambers was called-up to England’s U20 team for their fixtures against Poland and the Czech Republic. We’ve already written about his impressive 12 minute cameo in the first game against Poland.
But Chambers was even better in his second game. Chambers started that game against the Czech Republic and helped the Three Lions to a 3-1 victory. He even played a role in England’s third goal, driving into the box to register the pre-assist for Dane Scarlett’s second goal of the game.
Overall, Chambers’ numbers were really impressive in general. According to Wyscout, he won seven out of his 12 defensive duels, made six interceptions and 16 recoveries. He also completed two out of three dribbles and took an impressive five touches in the opponent’s penalty area.
Chambers clearly has a bright future ahead of him, and his recent performances are proof. Over the last few months he has gone seriously under the radar, but he could very well follow in the footsteps of the likes of Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah next season.
