Almost a week on, and Liverpool’s draw against Manchester City last week is still filling column inches.
The Reds were excellent during their top-of-the-table clash against City and were unlucky not to claim all three points. Following the game, a lot of the talk has been about the failure to award Liverpool a last-second penalty.
West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has been the latest to weigh in, slamming the non-decision yesterday. On a more positive note, the good performances of those in red are also still being discussed.
Speaking on his That Peter Crouch Podcast today, former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch hailed his old club’s display, and singled out Wataru Endo for special praise.
“I thought second half they looked rattled. I never see that with City,” said Crouch. “They might lose or draw, but they still dominate the game completely and they just didn’t at the weekend. I thought that was credit to Liverpool.
“Quansah kept Haaland quiet, Endo was unbelievable in central midfield, there was so many plus points.”
Crouch praises Endo display
Crouch isn’t the first to praise the performance of Endo against City. The 31-year-old was quite simply superb in the middle of the park.
Forming a great new partnership with Alexis Mac Allister, he just never looked like coming off second best against some of the finest players in world football.
It was the latest in a string of top displays from Endo, who has deservedly had a new song coined in his honour by Liverpool fans.
The way he got about City last weekend was almost reason enough alone to pay his £16m transfer fee last summer. It was that good.

It underlined yet again what a great signing Endo has been since arriving from Stuttgart. Few could have predicted this.
As Liverpool prepare to visit Old Trafford in the FA Cup on Sunday, the Japan captain may now have to deal with shifting expectations.
While the bar was set relatively low for most of the season, Endo’s own brilliant displays have ensured that it’s been raised considerably. He’s going to have to jump again to reach it.
Given everything that he’s done in a Liverpool shirt so far, you’d be a fool to bet against him doing it.
