After last night’s massive win over Sparta Prague, one Liverpool player’s name is now on everybody’s lips.
Having scored his first ever senior goal during the 6-1 win, Bobby Clark has now truly announced himself as a first-team player with the Reds.
Clark has been steadily building in stature over the past 18 months and is now reportedly seen by staff as being a full-fledged senior.
It’s safe to say that it’s all gone to plan then since the 19-year-old’s move down from Newcastle United in 2022. Seemingly unhappy with his boyhood club, Clark joined Liverpool and has never looked back.
But according to his Dad – former Premier League midfielder Lee Clark – that may not be the end of Bobby’s association with Newcastle, not if he has anything to do with it anyway. Asked on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast whether he’d like to see his son return to Newcastle one day, Clark couldn’t have been clearer.
“Absolutely,” he answered. “I don’t know how many fathers and sons have done it for the club. But yeah, certainly. Who knows, he might have to do an Alan Searer and come back but that would be my ultimate dream, defnitely.”
Clark dreaming of Bobby’s return
In fairness to Lee, he does speak in such glowing terms about Liverpool throughout the rest of this interview with Sam Allardyce.
It’s important to note that he absolutely is not itching to get Bobby out of Anfield and back up further North. Both Dad and lad are happy.
Having made the decision to leave Newcastle, you’d like to think that the Clark’s have since been completely vindicated.
Not only has Bobby broken through into a super Liverpool team, but he’s already a Carabao Cup winner, too. And one who put in a superb display in the final, no less.

As a result, we can’t imagine that the 19-year-old will be pushing to go anywhere anytime soon.
Of course, these are slightly unknown times at Anfield, though. Jurgen Klopp obviously rates Clark very highly, but it’s impossible to say how a new manager may react to the youngster.
If Klopp’s successor does not take to Clark, or pushes him down the pecking order, then maybe he’ll start to think about a move. In that scenario, Newcastle will surely be all over him.
These are all ifs, buts and future concerns, though. For the time being, Clark is a Liverpool player and a very promising one, too.
