Liverpool’s victory over Luton Town was a celebration of not just Jurgen Klopp at his finest, but of the future. This was a game where Liverpool were missing a lot of the big guns. The players who have been Klopp’s key stars over the last few years.

It was indicative that Klopp had to field the youngest XI he has fielded in the Premier League for the last six years. A total of seven players under the age of 21 featured in the game for Liverpool. All of that simply highlights just how ‘inexperienced’ this Liverpool side was.

They had every right to choke. Slip up and concede defeat. However, that’s not what happened. All the young players showed what they were capable of and produced a magnificent performance, even bouncing back after going a goal down in the first half.

Klopp’s young stars showed character and maturity, and most of all they gave yet another example of the bright future ahead of the club. Including some of the younger players who came on in the second-half. One whom, Jurgen Klopp, highlighted after the game and said he was ‘ready’ to play for the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp on Bobby Clark after Luton Town Victory

Speaking in his post-match press conference as per the BBC, Jurgen Klopp was asked about the performance of his younger players. Klopp went onto praise of all them and highlighted Bobby Clark in particular.

“The boys are ready and I wouldn’t do that if they weren’t ready. I wouldn’t bring Bobby [Clark] on if he wasn’t. It looked a bit like Luton were done so we trust them [young players] a lot just with what they do,” Klopp explained.

Clark was substituted relatively early on in the second-half. He was given around 20 minutes on the pitch, which is more than his total minutes combined in the Premier League for Liverpool so far.

And he didn’t disappoint, putting himself about and standing up to Luton Town’s physical challenges. This was yet another promising moment from the exciting 19-year-old Liverpool prospect.
