Liverpool’s hectic schedule continues this week as they take on Sparta Prague in the Europa League, before facing Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The Reds are on a high right now. They might not have beaten Manchester City on Sunday, but they took a valuable point to stay in the hunt for the Premier League title.
They should back that up by progressing to the Europa League quarter-finals tomorrow, and then have a big chance to win at Old Trafford and make the FA Cup semis. Life is good.
Something that is still just tempering that good feeling at Anfield is the injury situation. Liverpool are still missing too many players. One of those currently out of action is Ibrahima Konate, who missed Sunday’s big game. And according to Sky Sports journalist Vinnie O’Connor, Konate looks likely to sit out of tomorrow’s game, too. The Frenchman was reportedly back out on the grass at the AXA yesterday, but trained by himself.
“We did see Ibrahima Konate out there training by himself,” O’Connor reports. “Obviously, since he went down in the second-half against Sparta Prague and went off with that injury he missed the game against Manchester City.
“Jurgen Klopp did say he was hopeful that he would be back against Manchester United at the weekend. He wasn’t training with the main group today but we did see him.”
Konate training alone
With just one day to go until the game against Sparta, there’ clearly no chance that Konate will be ready for that. If he still isn’t limbering up with the main group then he’s going to be at least a few days off.
Although O’Connor claims that Klopp is hopeful of a return for Sunday, that would also seem unlikely.
Beyond that though, it’s safe to say that the international break comes at a very good time indeed for Liverpool.
There have already been reports that the likes of Ryan Gravenberch will be back by the time the next game rolls around – against Brighton on March 31st.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is also said to be in contention to be back for that Premier League clash with the Seagulls. Liverpool are getting the band back together.
By that time, you’d imagine that Konate would also be ready to go. Sitting out of the upcoming international games might even be good for the Frenchman.
Konate has once again been excellent this season and is slowly becoming one of Liverpool’s more important players.
If they’re to maintain their push for the Premier League title after the interlude, they’ll need him on the pitch as much as possible. Thankfully, Ibou doesn’t appear far from being ready for that.
