Liverpool are starting to feel the relief and benefit of injured players returning to the set-up.
The Reds have had to make do without a number of key players over recent months. However, having coped well, stayed top of the Premier League and even won a trophy, they’re now in a good position.
With Mohamed Salah already back and – according to Jurgen Klopp – looking ‘happy’, Liverpool are about to get stronger. Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez have also come back in the last week and the Reds will be all the better for it.
That still leaves a handful of key players out, though. The side is far weaker without Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker, that’s for sure. Another who is missing for now is Ryan Gravenberch. However, according to journalist David Lynch on his YouTube channel yesterday, Gravenberch isn’t far away. In fact, he could even ‘sneak in’ to play against Manchester United in 10 days time.
“The likelier timeline for Ryan Gravenberch is going to be near the international break,” Lynch explains. “Maybe he could sneak in for that Manchester United game just before, but the likelihood – and this is from sources close to the player himself – is that he’s looking at coming back after the international break and that’s the likely timeline.
“So, not expected that he’ll feature this week and to be honest the week after that is also sort of an outside bet really that he’ll be involved in any of the games there. So Ryan Gravenberch, not involved today, very likely to be out until after the international break or that is my current understanding anyway.”
Gravenberch not too far away
Obviously, Lynch’s expectation is that Gravenberch playing against United would still be a surprise. However, it does sound like that could change depending on how the next week or so goes.
Although he isn’t the player Liverpool fans will wish to see back most urgently, that’s still really good news.
After a difficult period, Gravenberch had looked to start to turn a corner just before his injury.
The Dutchman was just beginning to grow into the Carabao Cup final when he was crudely chopped down by Moises Caicedo.
Having been in and out of the side a little, the chance for a run in the starting XI was taken away from Gravenberch just like that.

Nevertheless, there’ll still be plenty more opportunities upon his return. By the sounds of things the 21-year-old will still be back before Jones, who is his most immediate competition in the squad.
That should give Gravenberch the chance to get the jump on Jones ahead of a huge season run-in.
It has certainly been a mixed season for the former Ajax youngster but an end of campaign flurry could still deem it a resounding success. Whatever happens, Liverpool are reportedly ‘convinced’ that Ryan has what it takes to reach the ‘very top level.’
Hopefully things go well over the next days and weeks and we’ll see him out there on the pitch to fulfil that sooner than expected.
