What a signing Wataru Endo has been for Liverpool. The Japanese international has surprised everyone with the way he has settled into life at Anfield in the Premier League.

When he arrived at 30-years-old, few would have expected him to make the impact that he has. But Endo has only grown and grown as he adjusted to life at Anfield. Over the last few months now, he has been one of Liverpool’s best players.

Against Manchester City, it was no exception. Endo put in a scintillating display, keeping Manchester City’s midfield at bay. The Japanese captain pretty much kept the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden out of the game. He controlled the midfield alongside Alexis Mac Allister.

Wataru Endo on Alexis Mac Allister

Together with Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo has formed a really solid partnership in Liverpool’s midfield. Both players have been the Reds’ best players over the course of the last few games. Their chemistry on the pitch has made games easier for Liverpool to control.

Speaking after the game, Endo was full of praise for Liverpool’s Argentine maestro. He also admitted that when they are playing with each other, they’re always looking to find one another on the pitch.

“He’s very clever.” Endo told LFCTV. “We always try to see each other especially when we have the ball. I have a very good paring with him.”

There is no doubt about it, Endo and Mac Allister make a great pairing. Both of them are fantastic defensive players. But they’re also excellent on the ball. They’re very good at keeping possession and playing nice one, two touch football. While sending progressive passes into dangerous territories. When they are playing together, yesterday was proof that they have the ability to hurt any opposition.
