Today was a great performance by Liverpool. Sadly though, that performance wasn’t necessarily reflected by the result. The Reds were very unlucky to walk away from Anfield with just one point.
Especially after what seemed like a blatant penalty wasn’t given by the referee and ignored by VAR as well. But in the end Liverpool will also have themselves to blame. They created enough chances to take all three points, even without needing to rely on that penalty on Alexis Mac Allister being awarded later on in the game.
Nonetheless, while they will walk away with mixed feelings, looking back on the performance later on, there is plenty to be proud of. There are plenty of positives to take. Including the way the Reds dominated Manchester City’s midfield.

Jurgen Klopp impressed by Wataru Endo
Speaking as per the BBC after the game, Jurgen Klopp was really impressed by the performance of Wataru Endo. The Japanese international put in another excellent performance. He was even voted as the Man of the Match by the club’s supporters.
“What can you expect when you sign 31-year-old captain of Japan and he will be a standout player in the Premier League. You never know that people can develop to world class, but that’s what happened,” Klopp said after the game.
After seeing the way Endo dominated some of the best players and midfielders in the world against Manchester City today, it’s hard to disagree with Klopp’s statement. The Japanese international has been an absolute gem of a signing.
The fact that Liverpool signed him for £16m (BBC) will go down as one of the biggest bargains in the history of the game. Definitely, the history of Liverpool Football Club.
