Liverpool have been given some good news ahead of tomorrow’s game against Sparta Prague.
The Reds are set to take on the Czech club in the away leg of the Europa League last-16. Already struggling with a number of fitness issues, fans will have been crossing everything for now more bad news during today’s open training session.
Ahead of today’s workout, there had been some speculation on social media that goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher may have suffered a fitness problem.
With Alisson Becker still missing, that would have left Adrian as Liverpool’s sole senior option between the sticks.
Thankfully, as per a video from journalist Ian Doyle on X, these rumours turned out to be nothing but that. Rumours. Kelleher was spotted jogging along with the rest of his teammates without a worry in the world.
Kelleher puts to bed injury rumours
We’re not sure how these things start sometimes. But any news of any Liverpool player picking up a problem is bound to cause panic these days.
Without Alisson for an unspecified amount of time, Kelleher is one of the Reds’ most important players right now.
The big Brazilian he may not be, but Caoimhin has been in terrific form over the past few weeks. Virgil van Dijk has long been one of the 25-year-old’s biggest supporters, labelling him as ‘world class’ after he played in a win over Sheffield United back in December.
Back then, few would have taken Van Dijk’s words as anything other than unwavering support for a teammate. Even now, it does seem a little strong.
But three months on from that evening at Brammall Lane, and many will be seeing the light. Caoimhin Kelleher is indeed a very good goalkeeper. So much so that Virgil reiterated his ‘world class’ view after last month’s Carabao Cup final win. The skipper loves Caoimh.

That he’s now showing exactly why after the first extended run of his career shouldn’t be a big surprise. The Irishman has been quality whenever called upon for years
If Liverpool do end up winning more silverware this season, then Kelleher will have played a big part in it.
With so many games under his belt already in 2023/24, it will be interesting to see whether Jurgen Klopp goes with his No.2 for the remainder of the Europa League.
After being spotted today though, he’ll surely be playing tomorrow at the very least.
