Virgil van Dijk has lauded Caoimhin Kelleher as ‘world-class’ after Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Sheffield United tonight.
The Republic of Ireland enjoyed a much better evening between the sticks after Sunday’s disappointing performance against Fulham, where Kelleher conceded three at Anfield.
Tonight was a different story, though, with Kelleher keeping a clean sheet and putting on a professional display against a Sheffield United side who were desperate for all three points.

And speaking to Amazon Prime post-match, Van Dijk was full of praise for the 25-year-old goalkeeper, with Kelleher in need of a big performance this evening at Bramall Lane.
Indeed, with Alisson Becker likely to be out this weekend for Liverpool’s clash against Crystal Palace, Kelleher needed a good display, and Van Dijk was impressed with what he saw.
The Liverpool captain said when asked about Kelleher’s performance: “I’m pleased for Caoimhin. Clean sheet. A world-class goalkeeper in my opinion. It’s good to see that.”
Caoimhin Kelleher was flawless for Liverpool tonight against Sheffield United

After Liverpool’s dramatic 4-3 win against Fulham, Kelleher needed an easy night at the office this evening against Sheffield United.
And the Irish international got just that in Yorkshire, with the 25-year-old flawless with everything that came his way tonight against Chris Wilder’s side.
Indeed, Kelleher is clearly a talented goalkeeper and a prospect who can go far in the game at the right club, with a summer move next year potentially on the cards.
With all eyes now on Saturday for Palace, Kelleher will want to repeat his performance tonight at Sheffield United on the weekend, with Van Dijk clearly a big fan of what he saw from the shot-stopper.
