What Trent Alexander-Arnold was spotted doing after the final whistle vs Southampton last night

On a special night that will be remembered at Anfield for years to come, Liverpool’s youngsters once again rose to the challenge thrown at them. Against Southampton, this was a game that the Reds were expected to win.

Unlike against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final, where nobody really expected Liverpool to pull through. This time around though there was an expection that Liverpool had to get the job done. Naturally, that means the pressure was higher.

But Liverpool rose to the challenge. The young lads in particular with Jayden Danns scoring a brace and Lewis Koumas scoring the opening goal of the game. The latter was making his debut for Liverpool. Meanwhile, Danns hadn’t played a single game for Liverpool just over a week ago. Now he has three appearances, a major trophy under his belt and two goals.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was in attendance for Liverpool on the night. And it spoke volumes of his character, what he did when the final whistle blew.

What Alexander-Arnold did after the final whistle

As you can see on the picture above, immediately after the final whistle against Southampton, Trent Alexander-Arnold was on the pitch. And one of the first things he did was to embrace the young players, including Trey Nyoni.

Impressively, as shown on the post game footage released by Liverpool’s official X account, Alexander-Arnold was also the last player back in the dressing room. Trailing behind the young Trey Nyoni and Lewis Koumas.

It’s so nice to see Trent Alexander-Arnold so involved with the young players. Having been an academy player himself not too long ago, he will know full well what it feels like to come through the system. The fact that he is there to assist and motivate the players is fantastic to see. It speaks volumes of his character and mentality.

There is a reason why he was picked as the vice captain of the club last summer. And in the future, with what he has shown recently, he can be Liverpool’s captain outright as well.
