Darwin Nunez wasn’t even on the pitch for Liverpool last night (well, except for when he sprinted from the stands to join in with the celebrations) but yet he made many headlines. The Uruguayan is just such a passionate character. His energy is infectious.

And he showed that while not even being involved in the game for Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final. Nunez’s antics sitting on top of the Liverpool bench caught the eye. The Uruguayan was simply very active, especially when it came to the celebrations.

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp even suggested Nunez’s vehement celebrations made him wonder whether he was really injured. What obviously made the headlines is his sprint from the stands to the pitch, jumping over several advertisement boards and railings to join in with his teammates on the touchline and the pitch.

But there was another moment which was spotted and which marked Nunez as the star of the celebrations on Sunday night.

What Darwin Nunez was caught chanting

According to a report by the Liverpool ECHO, Darwin Nunez even joined in with the Liverpool supporters chanting his own name. Nunez, Nunez, Nunez. Has become a popular chant at Anfield, and the ECHO spotted Nunez joining in with the chants and orchestrating them in the rendition of his own song.

You absolutely love to see it. Nunez is such a special character, and it’s great to see him being so involved with the fans. He may have his doubters among neutral fans, but it’s clear he is a fan favourite among Liverpool supporters. And always has been.

The fact that he can captivate a crowd even when he is not on the pitch speaks volumes of his character. His energy is simply infectious. And we cannot wait to see him back on the pitch. It quite literally cannot come any sooner. Liverpool need him back on the pitch causing chaos. Doing what he does best.
