Diogo Jota sends three-word post as he watches Liverpool celebrate their Carabao Cup win against Chelsea

Liverpool’s depleted squad rose to the challenge to win the Carabao Cup against Chelsea today.

The Reds had so many issues heading into the game, with big players missing all over the pitch. One of the biggest losses was Diogo Jota, who has been in brilliant form of late.

But in the end, it made no difference for Liverpool. With youngsters filling in brilliantly, Virgil van Dijk nodded home the winner with two minutes of extra-time remaining. Queue bedlam.

Most of the Reds’ current injured cohort were present at Wembley to celebrate the trophy lift and soak in the reactions of the crowd.

Notably, for whatever reason, Jota was not in London. Instead, the 27-year-old was seemingly watching on at home. And sharing a video of his teammates celebrating on X, Jota had just three words to sum things up.

“I’m so proud,” wrote the Portugal international, alongside a love heart emoji.

Jota watches on as Liverpool celebrate

This is a little bit of a sad post from Diogo. Of course he’s proud of those out there that got the job done today, but he really should have been playing himself.

Heading into the final, Jota had been one of Liverpool’s best players. Stepping up while Mohamed Salah has been injured, Diogo would have been one of the first names on the team sheet at Wembley.

Instead, he was forced to watch on at a distance, not part of the celebrations at all.

There’s no question of Liverpool’s No.20 being jealous or anything like that. He’ll have wanted to be out there no doubt, but it’s just one of those things.

When the boys get back to the AXA Training Centre, Jota will be celebrating with the rest of them.

For now though, the forward’s focus needs to be completely on recovering before the end of the season.

It has been projected that Jota could miss the next two months of action with a knee injury. If that is the case, he’ll hopefully be back before the end of the campaign still.

If he is, then the Portuguese could still play his part in even bigger days to come for Liverpool. Having been forced to sit out today, he’ll surely be even more determined to do that.

Enjoy your evening Diogo, and come back soon!
