Ever since first stepped in through the doors at Anfield Mohamed Salah has set the benchmark for what it means to be a Liverpool greater. Season after season, he has exceeded expectations and has become one of the greatest players to play in the history of Liverpool Football Club.

Simply put, Mohamed Salah is a legend. He is the most important player in this Liverpool team. When he is on the pitch, Liverpool have an extra level of belief and conviction that they can go all the way. He gives players confidence and exudes an aura that very few people possess in world football.

Salah is a sensational footballer. Capable of making things happen out of thin air. He is capable of scoring any type of goal. Which makes it so difficult for defenders to play against him and for them to try and stop him.

Against Brentford, Salah showcased just why he was so special. However, in the weeks before he made his return in a Liverpool shirt, another player has stepped-up to prove that he could just well be on par with the Egyptian.

BBC pundit on Diogo Jota

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Premier League footballer Nigel Reo-Coker was speaking about Liverpool and Diogo Jota earlier today. And Reo-Coker revealed that he thought Jota has been almost on a par with Salah so far this season.

“I need to ask Mark [Ogden] and the Professor [Nedum Onuoha] in their opinion who they feel is the biggest loss out of those three,” Reo-Coker said.

“Because for me I think that I believe that Jota is the biggest loss for me. I think he’s next to Salah Liverpool’s most clinical striker and all the things that he does in the attacking sense is so important to Liverpool.

“And when you take a look at this run now, we know now this is the serious business of the Premier League title race, this is when you need to be firing on all cylinders. So, I think Jota is the biggest loss.”

We have to agree with Reo-Coker. Diogo Jota has been the sole reason Liverpool haven’t really suffered in Salah’s absence. The Portuguese international came back at the perfect time, and really contributed with some decisive moments over the course of the last couple of months.

Not having his clinical ability in front of goal, nor his ability to make a difference on the pitch is going to be a huge loss for Liverpool.
