If tonight’s game will be remembered in the history books at Liverpool it may go down as the match Harvey Elliott announced himself. It feels strange to say that after this was his 100th appearance in a Liverpool shirt. But well and truly this could have been the catalyst for Elliott’s career in a red shirt.
Quietly, the 20-year-old has been making a really positive impact off the bench in the Premier League so far. In total, he contributed with five goal contributions from the bench in the league. However, what Elliott was yet to do was to put in a strong performance while starting for Liverpool. That changed last night.
Elliott couldn’t have timed it better against Luton Town. This was a game which desperately needed someone to step-up, and in Elliott Liverpool got the perfect protagonist in the match. Not everything that Elliott did work-out, but he just kept trying and prodding away. He covered so much ground as well, and was simply everywhere. It’s no surprise that he got himself a goal at the end. Nor that he did something which no one else can better in the Premier League this season.

Harvey Elliott among the best in the Premier League
Elliott created seven chances for Liverpool on the night. More than anyone else on the pitch, and more than any player has created so far for the Reds all season. But it’s not just at Liverpool where that statistic stands out.
According to Whoscored, Elliott’s seven chances created against Luton from open play is the most by any Premier League player in a single game this season.
The more you see of Elliott, the more he blows you away when you realise he is only 20-years-old. The youngster is simply a sensational talent and there is so much more to come from him. He’s still adjusting and learning his trade. Just imagine how good he will be when he starts playing regularly for Liverpool’s first team. The sky is truly the limit for him.
