It’s all a bit chaotic around Liverpool at the moment. Tonight’s game promises to be a pivotal encounter, but Jurgen Klopp finds himself with few options left who are actually available for selection.

As the Liverpool manager revealed in his press conference, both Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez are doubts for Luton. Liverpool are simply taking things ‘day by day’ after they both suffered niggles last weekend against Brentford.

But there are also new injuries to Curtis Jones, Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota. Meanwhile, others like Dominik Szoboszlai and Trent Alexander-Arnold are still out injured and are doubts for the Carabao Cup final.

All that means is Jurgen Klopp is now forced to look at his options beyond the fringes of Liverpoo’s first team squad. Once again this season the Liverpool boss must now dip into his academy. Including a ‘special’ 16 year-old talent.

Jurgen Klopp’s plans with Trey Nyoni

A couple of weeks ago, Jurgen Klopp named Trey Nyoni alongside a group of Liverpool players who he described as ‘special’ talents. In his press conference yesterday, he once again included Nyoni in the prospects who Klopp deemed to be ‘massive talents.’

Now, according to a report from The Times, Nyoni is expected to be on standby for the first team this week. Given Liverpool’s injuries, the 16-year-old could even be involved in not just tonight’s game against Luton Town, but in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea as well.

It could be a huge moment for the Liverpool midfielder. Nyoni has taken the academy by storm since his arrival at the club last summer. He’s earned rave reviews and has caught the eye with both his technical ability and energy on the pitch.

Clearly, there is a very bright future ahead of him. But there is no denying this is a less than ideal situation for Liverpool. It’s fair to say Jurgen Klopp is definitely experiencing an injury crisis. Maybe a crisis of such magnitude that he has never faced before. But based on how the season has gone so far, we are confident Liverpool will pull through, as they have done every single time this season.
