There is definitely a bit of an injury crisis at Liverpool right now. Jurgen Klopp’s team have simply been inundated with more and more players going down with niggles and long-term knocks.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s game against Luton Town tomorrow night, Klopp confirmed that the likes of Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker and Curtis Jones are expected to be out for some time. Though he did not give an exact length of how long they will be missing from action.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai both still yet to return to first team training as well, Liverpool’s injury list is quite extensive. But that has been the case all season. And so far Liverpool have overcome each and every setback. Much in thanks to the brilliant contribution from the club’s academy players. With more injuries, it seems Klopp could now use even more of Liverpool’s young stars in the coming weeks ahead.

Jurgen Klopp on three ‘massive talents’
Speaking in his press conference as per Liverpool’s official YouTube channel, Klopp signalled out three players who are yet to make their debuts for the first team this season and described them as massive talents.
The three players in question were Jayden Danns, Trey Nyoni and Lewis Koumas. All three of them have been in and around the first team set-up, regularly training with Klopp’s team. And it seems they have definitely caught his eye.
“We will see how many of them we will have to use and give the opportunity to,” Klopp said.
“In a good moment they all can be in. We have options there, definitely, players who showed already what they can do like James or Bobby and others who didn’t feature yet. Koumas, Dannsy, they are all massive talents. Trey… So, we will see what we will do.”
The trio has of course, been extremely impressive at academy level. Most notably Danns, who is currently the top-scorer at U18 level, and has been firing in goals at U21 level as well. But Koumas too has been really impressive, contributing to a plethora of goals. Meanwhile, Nyoni is playing several age groups above his own at U21 level, and still very much putting in solid displays week in week out.
Liverpool’s future is bright. These are the opportunities young players will look forward to. An injury crisis is the perfect moment to make the step-up and take your chance at first team level. We hope Koumas, Danns and Nyoni can now follow in the footsteps of Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah.
