Liverpool are a fortunate enough club that over the years some of the best players in the world have represented the Reds. Even at times when Liverpool weren’t quite at the pinnacle of world football. The sheer size of the club, and the special relationship with the supporters, simply attracts big names.
At the darkest hours in Liverpool’s history, there were still players like Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez or Fernando Torres representing the club. All of whom are renowned in world football as some of the best players of their generation.
But there is no denying that this particular time in Liverpool’s history under Jurgen Klopp has attracted more special players than any other time recently. This has been one of the most successful eras of the club, and by far the best in the last three or four decades.
And there’s just one player who simply stands head and shoulders above the rest. Someone even Micah Richards has waxed lyrical about.

Micah Richards on Mohamed Salah
Speaking on The Rest is Football Podcast, Micah Richards highlighted just how special Mohamed Salah was. And also insisted the Egyptian was a player Liverpool simply could not afford to sell at this current moment in time.
“How good is Mo Salah?” Richards said.
“He comes back from AFCON, he’s injured, does his hamstring then comes off the bench and gets a goal and an assist like it’s nothing. Players would dream to do that. He’s such a special player. There was talk about whether it was the right time to flog him in the summer, but I just think he is so valuable to Liverpool.”
We have to agree, Salah is simply a special player, and even though we are sure there will be interest in him this summer, Liverpool should keep him at the club. Now more than ever, Liverpool will need stability as Jurgen Klopp departs. Salah is the perfect player to maintain that stability. He is the glue that makes everything stick at Liverpool right now.
Against Brentford, he showed just why he is so special. Without his cameo appearance, this might have been a game Liverpool struggled in. But instead, Salah came on and ensured a comfortable result for the Reds.
