Saturday was smiles all around for Liverpool. The Reds’ first team got an important and much needed victory over Burnley. Meanwhile, just a few hours before that, Liverpool’s U18 team thrashed Blackburn 5-1 at the club’s academy complex in Kirkby.
The complete performance saw Liverpool run away, particularly in the last half-an-hour of the game. Up until then, it was a close tight affair with the Reds just edging Blackburn 2-1.
But in the 60 minute mark, Liverpool’s lead was extended by Trent Kone-Doherty, who finished off a chance with brilliant coolness, slotting the ball into the back of the net. That was the youngster’s eighth goal in nine games in the U18 Premier League.
The spotlight though will fall on Kieran Morrison, who scored a stunning free-kick goal in the 77th minute, and then from the ensuing Blackburn kick-off, went onto reprise possession for Liverpool and score the Reds’ fifth and his second goal – all in the space of about sixty seconds.

Kieran Morrison highly rated by Liverpool
The 17-year-old is highly regarded at Liverpool. Morrison was actually lured away to the club from Manchester United’s academy. And he is in great form right now.
In his last eight U18 Premier League games, Morrison has seven goals and two assists. Capable of playing in midfield and on the wing, it’s easy to see why he is so highly regarded.
And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, the Northern Irishman will soon sign a new deal with the Reds. Despite having interest from other clubs.
“Liverpool talent Kieran Morrison set to sign new three year deal at the club despite being linked with move away last summer,” says Romano. “2006 born midfielder has verbally agreed to new contract, soon time to review documents and then announced.”
It’s great to see Morrison playing well and staying at Liverpool. There are so many talented academy players at the club right now. The future is definitely a bright one. Morrison has every chance to follow in the footsteps of players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones and more recently Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley.
