It still feels difficult to comprehend that this will be Jurgen Klopp’s last season at Liverpool. Especially because he is doing such a good right now of building for the future.
Over the course of the season, Klopp has promoted so many young players from the academy. Players who haven’t just filled the gaps when needed to, but who have made their mark on the team, and showcased their exciting potential.
Yesterday’s victory over Norwich City was yet more proof of the abundance of talent coming through the ranks. Liverpool beat the Championship side largely in thanks to the role Klopp’s academy graduates played in the game. And speaking after the match, Klopp revealed one of them is now considered a member of the first team squad rather than the academy.

Jurgen Klopp on Jarell Quansah
Speaking after the game as per the club’s official website, Klopp waxed lyrical about his players. He specifically highlighted the important role his academy players played in the match. And revealed there was one who was now considered a first-team player.
“Conor [Bradley] the same, just really good, [Jarell] Quansah, I’m not sure how long we have to talk about him as an Academy [player],” Klopp said.
“He is, yes, [that is] great, but he is now settled I would say [in the senior squad]. He can still improve of course because of the age but he is an important part of the squad, like they all are.”
It’s exciting times for Liverpool at the moment, and Klopp is right to make that distinction about Quansah. The 21-year-old has stepped-up so many occasions for the senior team, he cannot really be considered an academy player anymore.
Quansah is very much the best example of Klopp building for the future this season. He has settled into with such ease at first-team level, and looks like a top prospect.
