‘Top player’… Tyler Morton says ‘everyone’ at the Liverpool academy has always raved about one youngster

This season has highlighted the quality that Liverpool have present in their youth teams right now.

Not only have the likes of Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley been starring for the senior side, but others such as Jayden Danns have been heavily knocking at the first-team door, too.

As well as those currently at the club, there’s been positive steps made by a couple of youngsters out on-loan as well. Probably the most impressive of these has been Tyler Morton, who’s having a good season at Hull City.

Given the choice, you’d imagine Morton would still wish to be doing his thing at Liverpool, like Quansah or Bradley. But speaking to The Daily Mail about his former youth team colleagues, the 21-year-old doesn’t appear to hold any jealousy of them. In fact, quite the opposite.

“I watch every [Liverpool] game. They’re my mates at the end of the day,” says Morton. “Harv’s [Harvey Elliott] one of my best mates, a great guy.” The Hull midfielder also admitted that the rise of Bradley in particular is hardly a surprise.

“Conor has turned into a real top player,” he says. “Everyone at the academy knew he would. Jarell as well, he’s been absolutely brilliant – I’ve grown up with him and trained with him since I was six or seven. Lovely to see them do well and represent the club that I love and support.”

Morton unsurprised by Bradley impact

It’s always interesting to hear young players open up on which players were the standouts in their age groups. Often, it isn’t the ones you might expect.

How many times have we seen youngsters tipped for stardom only to see them fall by the wayside.

But in terms of Bradley, it seems as though the predictions were absolutely bang on. The 20-year-old has all the makings of being a senior stalwart for Liverpool.

Of course, it’s still very early days for him. The last thing anyone wants to do is get ahead of themselves.

Given what Morton says though, staff at the AXA Training Centre have been expecting this rise from Bradley for quite some time.

This is not a flash in the pan kind of impact. The Northern Irishman has been preparing for his moment ever since arriving from Dungannon Swifts as a 16-year-old.

Now, his chance has finally arrived in full. Listening to how highly Jurgen Klopp speaks of Bradley, he’s going to be given the time and games he needs to take that opportunity.

As for Morton, he’s another who has long been earmarked for success. Just like Bradley last season, the 21-year-old is using his loan spell to show that a long-term future at Liverpool could be on the cards for him, too. The future is bright.
