Liverpool are through to the 2024 Carabao Cup final after a 3-2 aggregate win over Fulham.

Just like in 2022, the Reds will take on Chelsea in the Wembley showpiece, which will take place on Sunday, February 25th.

It’s the chance for Liverpool to register a record-extending 10th trophy win. By now, the Reds have become used to this feeling. But according to Daniel Sturridge this evening, their players are still making sure to enjoy moment.

On punditry duty for Sky Sports this evening, Sturridge noticed one Liverpool star in particular soaking in the moment.

“What I’m looking at now is Harvey Elliott going to the fans absolutely gassed, buzzing,” said the former striker.

“The football club is heading in the right direction of course. The amount of players coming in and have taken a grasp of Jurgen’s tactics very quickly. Of course this is the Carabao Cup, but the young players, what they’ve done here and shown what they’re capable of is great for the.”

Elliott delighted by final qualification

Elliott wasn’t the only one looking delighted at the final whistle this evening. Jurgen Klopp has gone on record about how much he loves this competition, and the boss looked as happy as ever once Liverpool’s place in the final was confirmed.

And well he might. The Reds might have been favourites tonight, but they’re still contending with injuries upon injuries.

The right side of their defence this evening consisted of two 20-year-old’s. Against a good Fulham side, that could have spelled danger.

But Conor Bradley stood up well and Jarell Quansah even had enough to register an assist.

For those lads in particular, this will be a brilliant moment. It doesn’t matter that Liverpool have been there a hundred times before, those two – and Bobby Clark et al – have not.

For them, this is their first, full season as senior pros for the Reds. Until the game kicks off next month, they’ll all be dreaming of putting up a big moment at Wembley.

In terms of Elliott, he already has a Carabao Cup winners medal on his mantlepiece at home. But as a boyhood Liverpool fan, you can never get enough of these moments.

Soak it in Harvey, a good night’s work.
