Things are going well at Liverpool right now. From top to bottom. It’s not just the first team who have started the season really well, but the club’s academy is thriving as well.

The young Reds demonstrated emphatically last night thumping Arsenal 7-1 in the FA Youth Cup. It was a shock annihilation against the Gunners, who are regarded as having one of the best academies in England.

However, Liverpool showed that there is a bright future ahead for the club’s young stars and absolutely dominated Arsenal’s team on the night. The club’s coach, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson was absolutely delighted with the performance. And he named three players who were unplayable.

Liverpool’s ‘really interesting’ trio

Three players took the spotlight in particular against Arsenal. Lewis Koumas scored a hat-trick, meanwhile Jayden Danns and Trent Kone-Doherty both got a brace each. The club’s official website asked Bridge-Wilkinson whether his trio was ‘unplayable’ on the night.

“Yeah, they definitely were tonight,” Bridge-Wilkinson said.

“It’s a really interesting blend, they are each different, they each threaten the opposition back line in a different way.

“When we can get them – like tonight – playing together, combining together and starting to work with each other, obviously they are really threatening.”

All three of them were really impressive against Arsenal. But they’ve been impressive all season. Koumas has already been on the periphery of the first team. It would not be a surprise to see the other two follow suit of him very soon. Liverpool’s future is certainly looking very bright at the moment.
