The next step in Jurgen Klopp’s 2.0 Liverpool is to sign a centre-back. There are no two ways about it, Klopp needs to fortify his options in that department by bringing in a younger option for the future.
Even with the emergence of Jarell Quansah, there is still room for an addition of that ilk, and while Liverpool are unlikely to make an acquisition in January, there is always a possibility that something might come up.
As always Liverpool will be reactive in the winter market, and if a long-term target, who they admire, becomes available, then they will pounce. Just like the club has done in the past with the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo.

Jean-Clair Todibo links
The latest reports are currently linking Jean-Clair Todibo as a possible target for Liverpool in the centre-back position. According to Nice-Martin, the Reds currently have the ‘advantage’ over Manchester United in the race to sign the former Barcelona defender.
The report also claims that Todibo sees Liverpool as a ‘very attractive’ destination, because of the history of the club and Jurgen Klopp, as well as being very close with Ibrahima Konate.
Todibo is an excellent centre-back, who reads the game really well. Having been impressive for Nice over the last couple of seasons, this could be a good move for Liverpool. Especially, as he may not cost an extortionate fee.
Transfermarkt currently values him at around £30m – which would be a bargain for a player of his ilk.
