Liverpool continue to be linked with forwards as they ponder a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.
The Reds are about to be given a dress rehearsal for life without Salah, as he links up with Egypt for AFCON. With some big fixtures on the horizon, Liverpool could be missing their talisman for more than a month.
If rumours are to be believed, then they could soon be feeling Salah’s absence for much longer than that. The press continue to link Liverpool’s Egyptian King with a transfer to Saudi Arabia at the end of the season.
That may or may not happen. But with Salah now the wrong side of 30, the Reds do need to start planning for what comes next. With that in mind, Football Transfers have today linked Liverpool with a move for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.
It isn’t just Olise mentioned as being on Jurgen Klopp’s radar, though. They also claim that the Reds are ‘eyeing’ a deal for Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville.
For the time being, it’s said to be ‘unclear’ whether Liverpool are targeting just one of Olise and Summerville, or whether they want them both.
Liverpool eyeing Summerville move
Given that Leeds are now in the Championship, this might be an underwhelming link for some. How can a player in the second division replace one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players?
We’d be minded to agree with that, and if the Reds really do want Olise and Summerville, it would probably be wise to bring them in together.
Having said that, Summerville is clearly a very talented player. Freed from the Premier League shackles this season, the Dutchman has been one of Leeds’ best players.
With 12 goals and six assists, Summerville is statistically one of the most productive players in the Championship.

Liverpool have also seen up close the damage he can do. With the clock ticking into injury time last October, the 22-year-old pounced to win the game for Leeds and end Virgil van Dijk’s proud unbeaten Premier League record at Anfield.
To this day, that 2-1 loss at the hands of Summerville remains Van Dijk’s only home league defeat for Liverpool in 90 games. How annoying.
Virgil has already had to deal with Alexis Mac Allister rocking up at Anfield after ruining his hopes of a World Cup with the Netherlands last year, though. We think he could handle the arrival of his young countryman.
As a right-footer, Summerville would be a less natural Salah replacement than Olise. But it does appear that the Netherlands U21 star is also very adept with his left foot. Nothing appears to be imminent, but Summerville is worth keeping track off for Liverpool fans.
