Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has shown off a brand new haircut as he aims for AFCON glory.
Salah departed Liverpool on the back of a superb display against Newcastle United on Monday.
With the Reds now set for potentially more than a month without their No.11, Jurgen Klopp is going to find it hard to replace him.
For Mo though, it’s a big month. The 31-year-old is yet to win an AFCON with Egypt and felt the heartbreak of losing the final against Sadio Mane’s Senegal two years ago.
This time around, Salah looks like he means business, though. Taking to his Instagram stories yesterday, the Liverpool forward showed off a mean looking trim.
Trimming back his trademark afro, the Egyptian looked smart with shaved sides and a freshly clipped beard. Look smart, play smart Mo. Good luck for the tournament!
Salah ready for business
Although we’ll miss Salah while he’s away, we have confidence that the rest of the Liverpool squad can cover him effectively.
There will be those who perhaps feel differently to this, but we’d love to see Egypt go all the way and win the trophy.
It would obviously mean a great deal to Mo, who captains the side, and would cement his place as an all-time legend with his country.
Because although he’s a undisputed icon in his homeland, he’s still being eclipsed a little by players of the past.

Egypt have a great record at AFCON. Having won the tournament seven times, they’re the most successful nation in its history. However, their last victory came back in 2010, a year before Salah’s debut.
Consequently, in the minds of plenty, Mo doesn’t quite stack up to the legendary Mohamed Aboutrika, who won both the 2006 and 2008 titles with Egypt.
Knowing the character that he is, that won’t sit right with Salah. He’ll be determined to lead his team to victory and cement his name as the greatest Pharaohs player in history.
So, we’d love to see it happen. Given Mane also placed second in the 2022 Ballon d’Or on the back of his title win with Senegal, it would also give Mo a boost in that regard. That can only be good news for Liverpool. As the Egyptian King arrives to lead his team, he certainly looks ready to handle his business.
