Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool have suffered a fresh injury issue ahead of Sunday’s game against Arsenal.
The Reds go into the weekend’s FA Cup tie with a number of fitness problems, most of which are long-term situations. A timeline has now been shared for Kostas Tsimikas’ injury, with a handful of other players also missing.
And speaking to the press ahead of the trip to the Emirates, Klopp has today confirmed that Dominik Szoboszlai has joined the list of injured players. He’ll play no part on Sunday.
The midfielder appeared to limp out of Monday’s win over Newcastle and today the Liverpool boss confirmed that Szoboszlai is out. Luckily, it doesn’t sound too bad, but there’s ‘no chance’ for this weekend.
“It’s an injury. Muscle, hamstring,” Klopp reported. “We will have to see. Dom is very positive, not a lot of pain but no chance for Sunday. Not for then Wednesday [vs Fulham].
“Then we will see. After that, hopefully, he might be back but we don’t know.”
Szoboszlai misses Arsenal clash
Having been one of Liverpool’s most used players so far this season, it’s not a big surprise to see Szoboszlai go down with a muscle injury.
The Hungarian has been a remarkably consistent presence in the team, especially in the Premier League.
After 20 games, Szoboszlai has started 19 and come on as a substitute in the other. Mohamed Salah is the only other Liverpool player to feature in all 20 matches so far.
For much of that time, Szoboszlai has been excellent. However, the 23-year-old has just dipped off a little of late. Perhaps this little break comes at a good time for him.

With Wataru Endo already missing though, the injury does not come at a good time for Klopp or Liverpool.
Alexis Mac Allister is back, which is good news. But once again Jurgen is a little down to the bare bones in midfield.
Thankfully it doesn’t sound like Szoboszlai will be missing for all that long. Nevertheless, with a tough looking trip to North London this weekend, we’d obviously rather have him available.
Rest up Dom and get yourself back soon.
